A pendant is the one piece on a necklace with an actual opinion. The chain's job is to get it to your collarbone and then stay out of the way. Ours come in solid gold, mostly 14K yellow, and solid sterling silver too, so the metal is worth deciding before you fall for a specific design. Some of the lockets and a Birks Bee Chic Amethyst piece run silver; most of the diamond and gemstone pieces run gold.

The range runs wide on purpose. Hearts and lockets sit next to diamond solitaires, pave and circle styles, and colored gemstone pendants in amethyst, tanzanite, tourmaline and mother of pearl. Every pendant here arrives complete, the stone already set, so there is no separate stone decision to make the way there is on an engagement ring setting. Pick what catches your eye and it is ready to wear.

What is a pendant?

A pendant is a piece that hangs from a chain or cord and is worn as the focal point of a necklace, as opposed to a chain worn plain. The word covers a wide range, from a simple diamond solitaire to a locket that opens, and the chain is largely there to deliver it to the right spot.

What is the difference between a locket pendant and a regular pendant?

A locket opens, usually to hold a small photo or keepsake inside, while most other pendants are solid pieces worn for the design alone. Both hang from a chain the same way; the difference is entirely in whether there is anything inside.

Are Perrara pendants gold or silver?

Both. Most of the collection is solid gold, mostly 14K yellow, but solid sterling silver shows up too, including some of the lockets and a Birks Bee Chic Amethyst piece. Check the metal listed on each piece before you decide, since the two wear differently.

Are all the pendants on this page diamond?

No. Diamond pendants make up a good share of the collection, in solitaire, pave and circle styles, but colored gemstones are just as real here: amethyst, tanzanite, tourmaline and mother of pearl all appear across the range.
